Planning Board Advances Agricultural Driveway Zoning Amendment

Planning Board · Meeting of January 13, 2026

NH NEWTON — Newton Planning Board clears zoning amendment for agricultural driveways. The board unanimously advanced a citizens petition modifying Section XXXIV 4 of the zoning ordinance to permit secondary unpaved driveways serving agricultural parcels to the March 2026 Town Warrant. Members voted 4-2 to recommend the amendment.

Robert Marchand, ex officio from the Select Board, reported the Road Agent opposes a secondary driveway in this case. In separate business, the board unanimously denied a Conditional Use Permit for a home-based business at 13 Durgin Drive, citing lack of detail in the application and the applicant's absence.
