Newton Selectmen authorize emergency $20,000 police station cooling replacement

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of July 9, 2026

NH NEWTON — Newton emergency meeting authorizes $20,000 police station HVAC replacement. Chair Daniel Guide called an emergency session of the Board of Selectmen on July 9 to address a failed mini-split heating and cooling unit at the Police Department building. Police Chief DiFlumeri reported that replacement parts are no longer available for the aging equipment.

The Selectmen voted unanimously to authorize up to $20,000 for replacement, allowing Town Administrator Paula Mahoney to source alternative brands in consultation with the Chief. Funds will be drawn from the Emergency Management Operating fund, account number 3025.
