NH NEWTON — Newton selectmen approve two new hires and pursue property at online auction. The board unanimously approved Giovanni Zago as a permanent part-time police officer effective August 18, with the department sponsoring his full-time academy training starting in January, and hired Noah Ferrandi as an EMT-Basic at $22.00 per hour. Chair Daniel Guide received a 4-1 authorization (Guide abstaining) to bid on town property Tax Map 12-6-10 at a September 15 online auction, with spending approved from the Town Building Capital Reserve Fund and General Fund.
The board also voted unanimously to reject the appointment of James Doggett to the Zoning Board of Adjustment, reverting to a 1956 policy requiring town vote approval for ZBA appointments.
