NH NEWTON — Newton Conservation Commission documents wetland damage from ATV use on town property. During a May 27 site walk on a parcel between 31 and 33 Maple Avenue, members witnessed and photographed damage to wetlands apparently caused by motorized vehicles. Chair Sandy Estabrook and Vice-Chair Nancy Slombo attended, along with members Rob Hallock, Rachel Nelson, Robert Zalenski, and Trisha McCarthy, and Selectman Ex-Officio Joe Simone.
Member McCarthy will send a letter to abutters citing New Hampshire civil penalties of $10,000 per violation per day for wetland damage, plus potential criminal charges as a misdemeanor under RSA 482-A.
