Board of Selectmen approves hiring of six firefighters and EMTs

NH NEWTON — Newton Board of Selectmen approves hiring of six firefighters and emergency personnel. The hires, Paul Antonelli, Zachary Fawcett, Charles Genaro, Cameron Plank, Jason Miles, and Ben Whalen, were unanimously approved at $24.00 per hour by Selectman Joseph Simone, Jr., with seconds from Selectman Robert Marchand, Jr., pending completion of required background checks. Fire Chief Alcaidinho reported the Fire Department responded to 59 emergency calls in April.
In other business, the board unanimously approved a Request for Bid for Solid Waste Services with amendments, a one-year lease renewal with Civil Construction Management for $10,200.00, and a Warrant and Tax Bill for Tax Map Number 1-4-10 at 37 White Cedar Way.
